"Filipino Resiliency: Do Filipinos Really Have to Endure Everything?"
Do Filipinos Really Have to Endure Everything?
As a Filipino, we are mostly proud of our positive traits such as being family oriented, festive, and friendly. But the trait that most Filipinos use is their resiliency. Rain or shine, we are known to never give up. To always recover and endure everything that comes in our way. To walk our way to work as if no negative things ever happened in our surroundings.
It is good to be resilient but do we always have to be strong? The reason why we are so resilient is because we already adapt to our surroundings. We survive because we make ourselves fit to survive this kind of environment. But why just adapt if we could just change our surroundings and live a better life? Terrible transportation, low quality education, corruption, high inflation rate, poor drainage system, low minimum wages, and many more.
Being resilient shouldn't be an invitation for us to suffer or for us to be abused. So, it is time for us to finally open our eyes and ears. Be aware of your surroundings and your rights. Acknowledge the problems and make a move to change it. Watch the news, vote for the right people in the upcoming elections, and avoid littering. Because wouldn't you want a better country for your family and friends? Wouldn't you want to enjoy every festival and occasion without worrying about the traffic or if your budget is enough to celebrate?
We are resilient. But we should never stay silent.
